Crowns and Bridges
Crowns can be made from different materials that include the all porcelain crown, the porcelain fused-to-metal crown and the all-metal (gold) crown. Crowns and bridges may be placed on natural teeth or dental implants. Crowns are made to appear and function like natural teeth. They are necessary when a tooth is chipped, fractured, or has a cavity too large to place a filling. When a tooth is lost, the space left from missing teeth may cause one of several problems. Teeth may drift into the space changing one's bite, this changed bite may result in a sore jaw, gum disease or decay. When there has been the loss of a tooth, replacement teeth can be attached to two crowns constructed for the two teeth on either side of the open space. This is called a bridge because it bridges the open space. A bridge can be made of metal or porcelain, or a combination of the two. |

"It was a genuine pleasure going to Dr. Miller's office for the first time. Dr. Miller and his staff were very friendly and went out of their way to make me feel comfortable. Rather than just "diving" right into my mouth, Dr. Miller took the time to chat with me while taking a careful history. Unlike a previous dentist of mine, he didn't try to "scare" me into costly or unnecessary procedures. He allowed me to make informed decisions by thoroughly explaining the pros and cons of all my options. I look forward to going back to Dr. Miller for my future dental needs."-Brett D. Leggett, M.D., F.A.A.P. Childrens Hospital Los Angeles You are a great and awesome dentist. I have had the pleasure of sitting in the chair and looking up at Dr. Miller as my dentist. The appointment was painless. It was surprisingly quick and had very little after effects. Congratulations for a job well done! -Richard Lee Schwartz, D.D.S. read more |
